Oriolus sagittatus
The Olive-backed Oriole is part of a worldwide family, of which Australia has two other members (the Yellow Oriole and the Figbird). Males and females have an olive-green head and back, grey wings and tail, and cream underparts, streaked with brown. They both have a bright red eye and reddish beak. Females can be distinguished from males by a paler bill, duller-green back, and an extension of the streaked underparts up to the chin.
Spotted in backyard feeding on berries of unknown tree amongst rainforest species.

Thanks very much for your kind words everyone!! :) I've spent hours sitting in front of this tree for the past few days trying to get some shots of the satin and regent bowerbirds but have ended up getting a whole lot of other beautiful species I've never seen here before! Patience really pays off!
Congratulations!
Orioles are indeed beautiful! We've golden orioles here.. :)

What a lovely visitor to your backyard! Congrats Alice, you've earned another Spotting of the Day! The Olive-backed Oriole can be spotted in Australian woodlands and rainforests, as well as well-treed gardens, parks and golf courses.
