Scaly-breasted Munia

Description:

Small...sort of sparrow-ish birds. Belly is white with scaly pattern; hence the name Scaly-breasted munia. Bill is dark.Head is cinnamon coloured as are the wings.

Habitat:

Urban residential area. My morning walk route. There is patch of unused land next to a house with many pet birds. I think the seeds they throw out germinate..or else the wild grass bears seeds. From time to time, I see the scaly-breasted munia feed on it. Today I also saw the pair check out the discarded nests of the Pied Myna.
