It is a medium sized nymphalid butterfly that has white, black, and red wings.This one was basking in the sun showing the front side of the wings, the back has blue as well.The border of the wings have white and black stripes usually and the abdomen also has black silvery hairs and scales.


Semi-urban, Fort Worth, Texas


This species is found in most of the Americas but other similar species are found around worldwide.
