Habitat:

Este foi encontrado em uma área de mata inadulterada, nos arredores de uma cidade interiorana rural, mas são comumente vistos em ambiente antrópico.

This one was found in an area with untouched vegetation, in the neighborhoods of a rural backwater town, but they are commonly sighted in anthropic environments.

Notes:

Cacoscelis nigripennis é um besouro-pulga da ordem Coleoptera, subordem Polyphaga, infraordem Cucujiformia, superfamília Chrysomeloidea, família Chrysomelidae, subfamília Galerucinae e tribo Alticini.

Creio que não há uma maneira de ter 100% de certeza se esse besouro é da espécie nigripennis sem possuir certo conhecimento da distribuição das outras espécies do gênero Cacoscelis ou sem ter um indivíduo em mãos. Encontrei alguns membros de besouros Cacoscelis parecidos identificados como Cacoscelis melanoptera (http://www.naturalista.mx/observations/1...) e há a possibilidade de existirem mais, e também não sei se essas identificações estão corretas. Cacoscelis nigripennis parecem ser uma espécie abundante no Brasil, então este é meu palpite.

Adultos foram documentados alimentando-se de Passiflora caerulea, mas dado a dieta polífaga da maioria dos Alticini há a possibilidade de que esses também possam se alimentar de outras espécies. Desconheço a alimentação da fase larval.

Cacoscelis nigripennis is a flea beetle in the order Coleoptera, suborder Polyphaga, infraorder Cucujiformia, superfamily Chrysomeloidea, family Chrysomelidae, subfamily Galerucinae and tribe Alticini.

I believe there is no way to be 100% sure this is indeed the species nigripennis without having full knowledge of species distribution among other members of the genus Cacoscelis or without having an individual in hands. I've found some similar-looking Cacoscelis beetles identified as Cacoscelis melanoptera (http://www.naturalista.mx/observations/1...) and it's possible there are more, and I don't know if these identifications are correct either. Cacoscelis nigripennis seems to be an abundant species in Brazil, so this is the best shot I have.

Adults were documented feeding on Passiflora caerulea and given the polyphagous diet of most Alticini, there is a possibility that they can also feed on other species. I'm unaware what their larvae feed on.
