Nereocystis luetkeana
A pneumatocyst of N. luetkeana washed ashore with some rockweed (Fucus gardneri, photo 3) surrounding it. It has the texture and hardness of smooth plastic when dried.
Seen in the pacific intertidal zone at Tongue Point Marine Sanctuary.
This kelp may reach 100 feet in length and is also edible.
