Red-breasted Merganser

Description:

The females have a brown head and a gray body, and the males have a dark head with a brown breast. Both sexes have a long, thin orange bill.

Habitat:

They are found throughout the Northern hemisphere, and migrate south on their respective continents in winter. It was a very windy day, and there was a whole group of mergansers sitting on the beach.
