Thick-headed fly

Description:

The thick-headed fly is an amazing wasp mimic. Dark red with black marking and a yellow face. the species has a variable appearance. One set of wings and fly-like antennae help differentiate it from wasp in appearance.

Habitat:

Spotted visiting blackberry blossoms in my backyard.
