Catopsilia pomona
Every sunny morning and afternoon this (and other) species of butterfly visit these flowering shrub/trees. The species is found in parts of Asia, Australia and of course, New Guinea.
This spotting on peacock flower (Caesalpinia pulcherrima) in a large semi-urban yard & garden adjacent to a disturbed patch of remnant forest. This is in the equatorial tropics of northern New Guinea.
Peacock flowers are magnets for butterflies, other insects and the olive-backed sunbird at this location.
