Spotting

Description:

Have no idea what this could be, never seen anything like it... It reminds me vaguely of some coral maybe? These are somewhat flattened tubes attached under the rocks in a very small cave-like structure near the shores. Tubes are yellow, hard on touch and about 2cm in length.

Habitat:

Found very close to shoreline in a shallow water - not more than 1m of depth. Seen in Bay of Cavtat (Dubrovnik riviera), on rocky bottoms - rocks here are reaching the surface, providing many hiding places, including this small cave - and these were attached to the upper surface, or ceiling. The sea bottom here is rocky, creating many crevasses and tunnels, and rocks are abundantly covered in algae. In those deeper waters, there are some large colonies of sea grass settled on patches of sand.
