Hanauma Bay Marine Life
With so many visitors to this place (both tourists and kamaaina), and so many with great memories and tales of the times they spent snorkeling and diving here, let us create the world's largest repository for photos of all of the wonderful nature within this preserve. Please focus on submitting photos of Hanauma Bay's marine life (i.e., fish, turtles, seals, dophins, marine invertebrates). Underwater pictures are preferred, but I realize that many amazing encounters with marine life happen from shore as well. Mahalo nui loa! Sign in to join mission
Hanauma Bay Nature Preserve is one of the most popular tourist destinations on the island of Oahu, Hawaii, and has suffered somewhat from overuse (sees an average of 3000 visitors a day, or around a million visitors a year). However since being designated a Nature Preserve the coral reef has began to heal and the marine life within the bay is again abundant. Underwater pictures are preferred, but I realize that many amazing encounters with marine life happen from shore as well. Mahalo nui loa!
